Area 51

We are feeling much better around here but it has been slooooowwww going for sure. This cootie has really taken ahold of Puddin'Cup and just won't let go. But considering this is the first cootie to get him in all his 7 months of life its no wonder.
In celebration of my new found wellness I have taken on a new obsession/project/prayer focus. An area rug.
When we got ready to downsize from a house to an apartment I knew things would change. But I wasn't really prepared for the flooring change. The upstairs bedrooms are hardwood. The downstairs are tile...all of the downstairs including the living room. I realize the logic in this, I mean after all who wants to constantly be replacing badly cared for carpet? But to go from all carpet to no carpet is an adjustment.
So I put on my wish list one large area rug for the living room. I put it way down on the list cause a girl has to prioritize right?
Now at the top of the list was a couch and rocker recliner.
Realizing my lot in life for many years now I know/knew I wouldn't get new furniture. Never had new furniture so not really sure what I've been missing!
But I began to earnestly pray for a gently used set to come my way.
Piece by piece our old sectional was hauled away. We had worked hard for that sectional helping friends move in exchange for it.
While I was waiting for my couch another friend offered me a rocker recliner at a very affordable price. After all I had to rock my new grandson right?
But the couch eluded me.
By the first of Sept. our sectional was now reduced to two end pieces that we put together that sort of formed a little loveseat. Since we don't have much company this worked fine.
Today I will tell you that I have a "new" couch and rocker recliner by way of a gift from a fellow homeschool mom. Oh its a lovely dark hunter green and it is very comfy and fills my living room quite nicely.
I gifted the other rocker recliner to my next door neighbor who I had never spoken to up until the day I knocked on her door and said "would you like this chair" and she was thrilled!
I hope I was as grateful and thankful for my couch and chair as she was for my old rocker recliner. I want someone to be as blessed as I was by the expression on her face. It was priceless.
All this to say that God knows the desires of my heart. He works on providing them for me. I happen to think my contentment is its own reward. I know I will have what I need when I need it...just practice patient Mia!!
So my next quest is an area rug.Round, rectangular, square doesn't matter. Puddin' is crawling now so the rug has been bumped up on the priority list.

Closed on account of cootie bug

We have got a bug. It was brought in by our boarding school student during her recent home leave. We are not used to be being sick around here. Last time was October 2008. As I remember that bug was brought to us courtesy of Mookie's public school chum. Hmmm...do you see a pattern here?
Wherever there are large groups of children gathered the cootie bug appears. Our school for one was closed yesterday. Mookie and I slept on and off,ate some soup and looked at each other frequently saying "I don't feel good do you?"
So today school is closed again. Although I am sneaking in a viewing of Disney's "Earth" and reading a chapter or two out of The Bible Story, maybe even a few minutes of 1900's House.
Hopefully cootie will leave soon!

It was the best of times,it was the worst of times....

The anticipation for home leave was high. We had it all planned out. Nothing elaborate, nothing too busy just good times. Bookworm had requested some special meals of her favorite foods. She had wanted to spend an afternoon with her best friend who still goes to school here at home. We had planned movie night, church,a picnic on Saturday afternoon. Lots of time with her nephew Puddin'Cup.
Wellll.....as the old saying goes..."Life is what happens when you are making plans" Ain't it the truth.
Our plans instead have included calls to the doctors office for antibiotics and a decongestant. Trip to the store for cough drops, chicken soup and orange juice. Lots of laying around watching television. Oh it has been one miserable visit. Not really sure if we are even going to get church attendance in.
Its been disappointing to say the least but I wouldn't have traded it for her absence at all!
We are suppose to leave to take her back to Academy Sunday morning. I just don't know if this mama can stand to leave her so far away if she is still sick. Its just not in my DNA to do that. So please pray for her to feel remarkably better by the time we have to drive away....AGAIN!!!
I keep telling myself this is good for her and her future, she really does love it there. But I just keep coming back to the feeling that this is not the way its suppose to be. She is suppose to be here with me. I mean come on we are a homeschooling family. That simply means we keep it at home!
Well okay the next home leave is one month away........

In just a matter of an hour or so I'm going to get my baby! She called at 6:05 a.m. this morning to let me know she is SICK! A bad sinus infection that has been coming on for a few days but waited until the first day of home leave to really kick in!! Oh poor kid!
Don't worry baby...Mama is on her way!!!!!!!!!
